Are you a fast or a slow eater? I'm a fast eater, unfortunately. I've tried to slow down but it never works.

Fast, my parents hate it. I don't eat fast in public though thankfully.

Generally fast, but I'm trying to slow down. It's starting to work, but I still have to be conscious of it, or I'll be Speedy Gonzalez again.

I saw a show on Discovery Health (I think) and they were giving tips. One of the things that was mentioned was to put your fork (or spoon) down between each bite. That I just can't seem to get into the habit of doing. But their suggestion of smaller bites and chewing longer to really enjoy your food is easier.

I've been trying to put the fork down, and it has helped a bit, I suppose.

I think for me, the whole thing started in school. We just aren't given enough time to actually take our time to eat. You get 30 minutes and if you're not finished, tough! So to keep ourselves from getting hungry again before we leave school, we eat faster. Bad habits start early.

Yeah, it's even shorter at my school. We get anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes depending on what lunch we have that semester.

Tell me about it, and this year I had it in the middle of English. It was terrible, we had a terrible class and I always dreaded having to go back to it after I ate.

When I'm eating something I like, I should have a sign above my head that reads; "Beware of Inhalation." Me and my mom went to Fridays once, and about ten minutes after we got our food she looked up and more than half of my food was gone. XD And I ain't ashamed of it either.

I am. If I could eat slower, then I'd lose weight because my brain would think I was eating more.

I am. If I could eat slower, then I'd lose weight because my brain would think I was eating more. And you would feel full faster. Our brains need about 10-15 minutes to tell us that we are full, and if we have to eat quickly, then we our brains just don't have the time to tell us it's time to stop. I'm with you on that one Blu.
