Okay, so I'm in GIMP and I somehow made this really AWESOME Vincent Valentine siggie, it was seriously cool, possibly one of the best I've made since my Genesis siggie. Then guess what happened? After OVER AN HOUR of trial and effing error and I don't even know what half the crap I did was... GIMP SHUT DOWN ON ME!And don't you tell me not to flame. I am really, really, REALLY ticked right now. I wouldn't be surprised if something on my desk caught fire because of how furious I am. You have no idea how much work went into that DAMN siggie, and then GIMP goes and freezes on me, and absolutely NOTHING is working, and I had to do the stupid 'Ctrl, Alt, Delete, End Now' thing. I am mega pissed off. Because it didn't even come back to life long enough for me to save! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

How did GIMP shut down by itself? Anyways you could make a new one. However, members understand the misery you're going through.

It just froze. The whole damn program froze. Each and every window, the main one, the one with the image, AND the Paths dialog! I had just added text. I WAS ALMOST DONE! All it needed was a damn border! *'Scuse my language, that happens when I get really mad...*

Aw... another reason for me to hate Gimp.
Seriously... totally know what you mean. the signature I have right now looked a LOT better.
Until Photoshop froze this morning and I had to shut down.
Apparently whatever happened wasn't Photoshop because the 45 fonts I downloaded the other night are gone too.
I was mad... so I don't blame you. Its a pain, especially when you dont know what you did and you were just messing around =(

It's not just GIMP. I've had that happen to me using Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. And yes, it is frustrating especially when you worked so hard on something.
More often than not, when it's happened to me, I'll go and try to remake the graphic. Not always easy though.
One trick I've learned, with Photoshop, is if the program freezes on me I will click on the transfer to Image Ready button. Usually, but not always, once the image loads in Image Ready I can save the PSD file from there. Then open it back up after rebooting my computer. Sometimes it won't transfer. Another option, especially if you have the image mostly finishes, is to do a print screen. Then close the program and open it back up, pasting the image in there to save it.
I'm sorry that you lost your image. I could say that you should occasionally save the file while you are working on it just to be safe. But even I don't think to do that all the time.

I remade it, but now instead of the really awesome image I had made last night, it looks retarded. I posted it here, but I don't have the guts to post it on Socal because this siggie is soooo not up to my standards...

Again, I'm sorry. But I am glad you tried remaking it ... even if it turn out the same as the previous one.

I've had this happen so often it's not even funny. >.< I've taken to saving after EVER single change. A hassle, yes. But, when PS does freeze, I've lost very little work.

Photoshop has done that to me, before. I understand your pain.
