I know. One of the critics that said that even said right afterwards 'I don't like musicals'. Talk about being biased!
Sweeney Todd Trivia: Johnny Depp was more terrified of actually shaving people than 'killing' them.

If you hate musicals, don't be a critic for one. Really, that's a bit weird.

Well, since when is Johnny Depp the common definition of normal? The man's best friend is Tim Burton, of course he's a little weird.

Oh yes, so true.
I had a friend of my mom's tell me that Johny Depp is the only man she ever found attractive (she's a lesbian).

Gods have supernatural powers of doom. Don't forget that. ^-^

Doesn't mean they have supernatural powers of lesbian-attraction.

Mann I was so scared to see this movie because I ususally do not do well with blood. But, being the huge Johnny Depp fan I am, I just HAD to see it. Unfortunatly, I was 16 when the movie was in theaters, and my mother refused to bring me because she too does not like the sight of blood. So... I ended up finding that someone uploaded the entire movie onto Youtube, so I quickly watched it, and was blown away! I actually wrote a very lengthy review on another forum, but I shall refrain from boring you with it. But I will say I adored Johnny's singing voice, as well as Helena's. And I finally got to watch it when it came out on DVD, so that was much nicer than a pixilated computer screen.

Glad to meet another fan, Emily, but you bring up a very good point that was annoying me from the moment the previews started showing on TV.
Every fangirl, every preppy girl in my whole school and more that was a Johnny Depp fan suddenly HAD to see it. It didn't matter that it was a horror novel in the eighteen hundreds, that it had been a legend before that, and that it was a musical before it ever hit the bigscreen. All of the sudden, everyone HAD to see Sweeney Todd, just because of Johnny Depp. Not hating on Depp fans, but they can really ruin a movie. I read the legend, saw the stage version, and even read the book. I went because I liked the story; Burton being the director and Depp being the leading man were just bonuses for me. But every Depp fan in the world was flocking to the theaters, and walked out saying, "OMG that was too gory but Johnny was hott! OMFG! I gotta tell all my friend on MySpace about it! OMG! ROFLMAO LOL!" It's actually kind of insulting. I swear half of everyone that went was like that, I kid you not.

You have no idea how much I've heard that Sweet Nightmare. I first got labeled as an insane-illiterate fan girl obsessed with Gerard Butler who played the Phantom. (I joined a Phantom of the Opera site after seeing the movie, HUUGEEE mistake because I was flamed by Michael Crawford fans like you would not believe.) Anyway, on this Phantom site, which surprisingly I did not leave even though the people on there were quite rude and obnoxious, they had a Sweeney Todd thread, and I posted because as I've said, I'm a fan of Johnny! And people flipped out! Saying that I shouldn't see it if I'm going JUST to see Johnny, and they were mad he was cast as Todd because all the girls who like him are just stupid, crazed hormonal tweens. And I said, yes, that may be so in SOME cases, but don't yell at me just because I said I'm a Depp fan and want to see the movie. If you're a fan of a certain actor or actress, you're probably going to check out the movies they are in. Right? I understand Sweeney Todd is originally a beloved stage show as well as a legend, and as you said, a novel, and it's annoying to see people totally throw that aside and go to worship Johnny. But I think just because someone says they like Johnny, it doesn't mean they're going into the movie totally focused on drooling over him. Like me, for example. Sure, I mostly went to see him, and I was happy since I enjoy musicals, but I ended up loving the story and if given the chance, I'd love to see the stage show! Everyone gets introduced to things in different ways. The same thing happened to me with Green Day and The Phantom of the Opera. I became interested in Green Day's music through American Idiot, therefore I was flamed because I was a poser fan just because I didn't start liking them back during the Dookie days. With Phantom, I saw the movie, so therefore, again, I was a poser because I hadn't read the book or seen the stage show. But if those people had given me time they would see, after American Idiot I bought their old albums, and researched them. Same with Phantom, I read the original book by Gaston Leroux and have been to the stage show twice. Sorry, that's just my little schpeel. I think it's just those people on the Phantom site, they're just not very nice. lol Oh and the review! I'll be sure to post that as well.

I wasn't meaning you specifically. I love Johnny, and it was part of my motivation for seeing the movie. (The other being I've been a Tim Burton Film Fan for a few years now.) I just hate people that go JUST to drool over Johnny. He's not just a heart throb to me, he's a great actor. There are grown fan-women that can still ruin a fandom by only going to see it to drool over Johnny.
