I have decided to create a thread about musicals. This way the Sweeney Todd thread doesn't get turned into a general discussion about musicals. ;D
I love musicals. I used to rent every movie musical I could get my hands on years ago, even the old musicals.
My all time favorite musical is Les Miserable. I had the opportunity to see the show in Pittsburgh. Our choir director planned a field trip, of sorts, for anyone in his choir classes that wanted to go. I absolutely loved it ... but then again, I loved the musical before I ever saw it. I had the soundtrack for it long before.

If I have to tell y'all what my favorite musical is, you haven't been paying attention.
I have a list, though, so here it is: 1. Sweeney Todd 2. Phantom of the Opera 3. Can Nightmare Before Christmas count? It has singing...
...Okay, I don't watch alot of things that are 'official' musicals. But musicals are very nice, I like them, especially the odd ones that people don't usually watch. Hence the obsession with Sweeney Todd. ((When it first went to stage, most of the audience walked out in disgust at intermission. Here's a bit of funny trivia about it: In contrast, Tim Burton saw it three nights in a row. XD))

No, I think we know which is your favorite. There was a musical version of the 1976 movie Carrie made and it lasted like 1 week ... it bombed big time but I'd have liked to have seen it.

Oh my god, I love musicals. These are all musicals that I enjoy: Ragtime (first musical I ever performed in for real) Pippin Rent Wicked Avenue Q Legally Blonde Children of Eden Phantom of the Opera Sweeney Todd Jesus Christ Superstar A funny thing happened on the way to the forum Songs for a new world I have seen many more musicals than that, but they're like Rogers & Hamersteins and Lerner and Lowe stuff and I have not liked a single one of their musicals (except Caurasel). I will have long, long discussions about musicals, that's for sure!

I couldn't even begin to name all the ones I've seen. I'd have to go looking for a list of musicals to help me. LOL
Apart from Les Miserable, the other ones that I've seen live were Fame the Musical, Fame on 42nd Street (same as Fame the Musical basically but renamed for it's special staging Off-Broadway), Chicago, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar and Little Shop of Horrors.
Have any of you seen any of the musical TV series that have aired?

I want to see Les Miz, I have heard some of the music and I thought it was terrific! Though I adore King and I the most. Eww...I hated that musical. I thought it was terrible.

I want to see Les Miz, I have heard some of the music and I thought it was terrific! I even enjoyed the 10th anniversary concert they did (saw it on video). The cast was in costume on stage but instead of acting it out normally, they just sang into microphones. Yet it was still wonderful. I have dreamed of playing Eponine in Les Miserable, which, in the video above, is played by Lea Salonga.

I've seen some of these. I saw a few, but the one I loved the most was I dreamed a dream.
Similarly, I want to play Pippin in Pippin on Broadway!

It was one of the few movies I got to watch with my grandma before she passed away. It holds a lot of sentimental value for me.

I've never been a huge fan of musicals. My favorite musical is Enchanted, which I thought I would hate! It is really clever and a good spoof of princess movies.

You know, I didn't even really think about Enchanted being a musical but yeah, I guess it could be considered one. And I too liked it. I just wish that James Marsden had more of a singing part in it since he did such a great job in Hairspray. And then there was Idina Menzel, a famous Broadway performer who was also in RENT, who didn't get to sing in the movie at all.

The movie actually isn't classified as a musical because there is like 3 or 4 songs in it. Besides, the music sung in there is so not Idina Menzel.
