I'm not sure a "Ghost" is exactly what you'd call this but it's some nice effects anyway =)
If you use the same picture I did, do NOT upload it anywhere. This is one of my best friends, Rachael. She told me I could use it and put it on here. Yes, I know she's pretty =)
Number One -
Open up your image and grab your Sponge tool.
Make sure its set to Desaturate and that the flow is somewhere between 80-100% and go all over their face (and skin, if theres any more showing.) Try to avoid going over their lips and eyes.
If you do, its okay, you can fix it later.
You should now have something like This
Number Two -
Take the burn tool
And go over the lips a little bit to make them a little bit darker.
Now, zoom in to about 200% and take your burn tool and make the brush size about 5-10 px. I used 7. Go over the lips a little bit to make it look like a busted/bit lip. You should have this
Number Three -
Okay, this is a little bit harder so I suggest doing it on a new layer, just in case you mess up. Zoom in to about 200% and get a black, brush and set it to about 7 px with an opacity between 30-35%. Nothing too dark, or it'll look bad. Go around the eyes, and make eyeliner, not too thick, but not too thin. I didn't have to do a lot to this picture since she already had eyeliner done, and thank GOD she knows how to do it right.
If you did it right, you should have something similar to this
Don't worry if it's not completely perfect or completely around the eye, like I said, it will be fixed later.
Number Four -
Now, with the same layer that you did your "eyeliner" on, grab your smudge tool
And drag down on the eyeliner. Try to be creative, not just plain smudges downwards.
You should now have this
Number Five -
Now grab your burn tool again, and, make the brush about the size of the eyes. Click about four to five times to darken the eyes just a little bit.
I didnt take a screenshot of this because it's fairly simple.
Number Six -
Now, if you want to add effects to your picture, go ahead and do this now. I darkened her picture by just using the burn tool and desaturating around her.
Now, merge all the layers you have right now together. (SHFT + CTRL + E)
Now DUPLICATE the layer.
With the duplicate layer selected, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur > And set it to something where you can still make out the image, it's just blurry. I set mine to 3.2.
Hit ok and set the layer to Overlay
If you did it right, it should of set a more softened tone to your picture. This helps to fix anywhere you messed up by smudging, and it also clears up any acne or skin problems the picture might have had
